Landing page agency for online stores

Landing pages: warming up cold traffic

Cold traffic means visitors from ads who do not want to buy right now. That is most of them. A landing page picks up where the ad left off and leads to exactly one action. Advertorial, quiz or comparison page: we build every kind of landing page.

  • Research before the first sentence
  • Every kind, from advertorial to quiz
  • Measured from click to order

How your page is built

Having a landing page built: five steps.

Behind this is our 545 method: 5 decisions lead to a purchase, 4 forces act on each one. Your ad decides whether people notice. The page has to carry the next three: Stay, Want and Act. The five steps are built around that.

  1. Schritt 1: Research

Who arrives through your ad, and what do they already know?

Before we write a single sentence, we evaluate your competitors' ads and pages and collect what your customers say in reviews, forums and test reports. On top of that, you answer a detailed questionnaire about product, buyers and objections.

    • Your competitors' ads and pages
    • Customer voices from reviews and forums
    • Detailed questionnaire about your product
    • How much your visitor already knows

ResultA research document: who your buyers are, what makes them hesitate and the words they use to describe their problem.

  2. Schritt 2: Angle

Which opening meets your visitor where they are?

From the research we develop possible openings, each for a different group of your buyers or a different motive. Each comes with a headline, a core promise and the explanation of why your product works. The kind of landing page follows from this, from advertorial to sales page.

    • Openings per group of your buyers
    • One core promise per opening
    • Why your product works, explained in specifics
    • Kind of page matched to the level of awareness

ResultThe opening we start with, and the kind of landing page that fits it.

  3. Schritt 3: Copy

Explain first, then lead to the action.

Every kind of landing page has its own structure, the sales page for example opening, problem, solution, proof, process, questions and close. The offer only comes once your visitor has recognized their own problem. We check advertising claims against competition law and, for health topics, against German health advertising law (Heilmittelwerbegesetz).

    • Structure matched to the kind of page
    • Offer only after problem and proof
    • Your customers' objections answered
    • In your customers' words

ResultFinished copy that leads your visitor from the ad to the action.

  4. Schritt 4: Design and build

Mobile first, with a single goal.

We design the page for mobile first and build it in your store or with Funnelish, a landing page builder. Every button leads to the same action. Before launch we check load time and display on mobile and desktop and whether every metric is measured, from click to order.

    • Mobile-first design
    • Built in your store or with Funnelish
    • Load time and display checked
    • Measurement set up and tested

ResultA tested page, ready for the first click from your ad.

  5. Schritt 5: Launch and measurement

Does your visitor buy, or where do they drop off?

From now on your ads lead to the new page, run by you or your agency. We measure all the metrics that count in e-commerce: click-through rate, time on page or scroll depth, clicks to the store, cart, conversion rate, order value and orders. If the volume is enough, an A/B test follows.

    • You or your agency run the ads
    • All metrics from click to order
    • A/B test when the volume is enough
    • Build on the better version

ResultReliable numbers: where visitors drop off, which page sells and what the next version changes.

Kinds of landing pages

The colder the visitor, the more the page has to explain.

The copywriter Eugene Schwartz described five stages, from the person who does not know their problem to the one who wants to buy. We choose the kind of landing page accordingly: those who arrive cold need a story, those who compare need proof.

  1. Advertorial

A promotional page in the style of an article that leads from the story of the problem to the solution. For visitors who do not know your product yet. Always labeled as an ad, as competition law requires.

  2. Listicle

An article as a numbered list, such as “Five reasons why …”. Quick to read, with a low barrier. We use it to check which opening resonates with your buyers before we expand it into an advertorial.

  3. Quiz

Anyone who does not know which product fits answers a few questions and gets a recommendation. That is how a quiz warms up cold visitors. For Dogs’n Tiger we built a food quiz for dogs and cats.

  4. Comparison page

Your product next to the alternatives your visitor is weighing right now, compared by the features that matter to your customers. For visitors who know the solutions but not your brand yet.

  5. Sales page

One page, one offer, one action. For visitors who are already considering your product. From opening and problem through proof and questions to the close, with no detours.

  6. Promotion and seasonal page

A dedicated page for a season or promotion, with one offer and a real deadline. For Dogs’n Tiger we built such pages, plus dedicated pages for dogs and for cats.

Buying psychology

Why landing pages fail with cold traffic.

Cold visitors give a page no benefit of the doubt. These six mistakes make them leave before they even weigh the offer. We counter them with the four forces of the 545 method: ease, framing, loss, reassurance.

  1. Disconnect from the ad

The ad promises one thing, the page starts with something else. Am I in the right place? We pick up the ad's image, wording and promise in the first screen.

  2. Selling too early

Price and buy button right at the top, before the visitor has a reason. For cold traffic we order the page by problem, solution and proof. The offer follows once it is an answer.

  3. Too many exits

Menu, newsletter, more products, three equally loud buttons: every detour is an exit. We build every page around exactly one goal, and every button leads there.

  4. The manufacturer's language

Spec sheet instead of everyday life: listing only features leaves the translating to the visitor. We write in the words your customers use in reviews and forums to describe their problem.

  5. Unanswered objections

Is this right for me? What if it is not? If a question stays open, the order stays away. We answer objections where they arise. We do not use fake countdowns.

  6. Proof in the wrong place

Stars at the very bottom convince no one who is already doubting at the top. We place customer voices where they answer an objection, and leave out what cannot be backed up.

Ad, landing page, store: one path to the order.

We check whether the page delivers what your ad promises, and build it so that it explains the problem and leads to exactly one action. The ad itself is run by you or your agency. Every stage is measured, from click-through rate to order.

  1. Ad sparks curiosity
  2. Landing page warms up
  3. Click to the cart
  4. Checkout without detours
  5. Every stage measured

Questions about landing pages

Common questions about landing pages.

Cost, duration, kinds: here are the short answers. Whatever stays open, we clear up in the intro call.

Ask your open questions

What does it cost to have a landing page built?

It depends on kind and scope: how much research is needed, whether one page is built or several in sequence, such as an advertorial before the sales page, and whether we build in your store or with Funnelish. A flat price that fits every product would be a guess.

Once the scope is set, you get a fixed price. You get a first estimate in the intro call.

How long does it take until the landing page is live?

It depends on the kind of page, the scope of the research and how quickly you give us feedback.

We give you the schedule together with the fixed price, once the scope is set.

What kinds of landing pages do you build?

All the kinds needed between ad and purchase: advertorial, listicle, quiz, comparison page, sales page, plus promotion and seasonal pages. Which kind fits depends on how much your visitor already knows.

Cold visitors we warm up with an advertorial, listicle, quiz or comparison page. Anyone already considering your product needs a sales page or an offer with a real deadline. Often two pages work together, such as an advertorial before the sales page.

What is the difference between a landing page and a product page?

A product page serves all visitors: those from search, from the menu, your regular customers. It offers a menu, more products and many paths. Anyone arriving cold from an ad often finds no reason to stay there.

A landing page is built for one ad and one group of visitors. It picks up the ad's promise, explains the problem and leads to exactly one action, for example to the cart.

What is an advertorial?

An advertorial is a kind of landing page: a promotional page in the style of an editorial article. It tells how a problem arises, why previous approaches do not help and what works instead. Then comes your product.

Because it looks like an article, we label every advertorial as an ad, as competition law requires. Advertorials suit visitors who do not know your product yet, and often sit between the ad and the sales page or product page.

Is a landing page worth it for Meta and TikTok ads?

Especially there. On Facebook, Instagram and TikTok hardly anyone searches for your product on purpose, the ad appears while scrolling. Those who click are curious but rarely ready to buy. A landing page meets exactly this cold traffic, for example an advertorial, a quiz or a comparison page.

The ads themselves are run by you or your agency. We match the page to the image and promise of your ads and check before launch whether clicks, carts and orders arrive in your ad accounts.

Do you build the page in our store or with a tool like Funnelish?

Both are possible. In Shopify we build the landing page as its own page in your store, with your products and your checkout. Alternatively it is built with Funnelish, a landing page builder.

Which path fits depends on your store platform and on how the page should work with cart and checkout. We clear that up before the start. If your store does not run on Shopify, we discuss the integration in the intro call.

How do you measure whether a landing page works?

By all the metrics that count in e-commerce: click-through rate, time on page or scroll depth, clicks to the store, cart, conversion rate, meaning the share of visitors who order, plus order value and orders. Before launch we check that each of them is recorded cleanly. So you see exactly where visitors drop off.

If the volume is enough, we test two versions against each other in an A/B test. What the test is measured on, for example clicks to the store or orders, we set in advance. For orders the rule of thumb is: a difference of 20 percent needs around 400 per variant. If the volume is not enough, we compare before and after and name the uncertainty openly.
