Shopify migration agency
A Shopify migration affects every system connected to your store. We plan how your ERP, CRM, middleware, retail stores and custom apps work together with Shopify Plus, and we build the Shopify side of every integration.
BÄR SchuheFrom Shopware to Shopify Plus: 21 retail stores, a dealer area and five domains for several countries in one store. Clear design cut the return rate by 10%.
System map
A large store is rarely just a store. Before the first import we map out which systems deliver data, which receive it and which system is the source of truth for each field. Shopify Plus sits in the middle, connected to each of these systems.

Customer accounts, purchase history and consents for your CRM and your email marketing. Newsletter consents we migrate only with proof.
Customer accounts, consents, e.g. Klaviyo
If a middleware sits between ERP and store, we describe the interface for your service provider and build the Shopify side.
Interface specification, real-time queries
Products, variants, images and additional fields. The data model in Shopify is set before the import, so that filters, variants and feeds work later.
Metafields, metaobjects, import e.g. with Matrixify
Retail stores as locations in Shopify, stock per location on the product page. We define which locations sell and which only display.
Shopify POS, store stock, location model
Payment methods and payment providers for store and checkout. The review for Shopify Payments can take a few days, so we start it in week 1.
Shopify Payments, PayPal and Klarna
Shipping profiles, delivery times and shipping costs that match across store, checkout and Google feed. Plus your shipping provider.
Shipping profiles, delivery time texts, e.g. Sendcloud
If no suitable ready-made app exists, we build a custom one. Beforehand we define what it does when a connected system does not respond.
Checkout extensions, order history import

Case example
BÄR Schuhe has 21 retail stores and sold online with Shopware 6.6. We have worked together since June 2025, and the new store on Shopify Plus has been live since September 2026. A service provider of BÄR connected the ERP, we built everything in the store that reads and displays its data.

Our process
Every online store migration with us follows the same six phases, and each ends with a result you see and sign off. We only build once it is clear what comes along and which system owns which data.
What comes along, what is built new, what is deliberately dropped.
At the kickoff we go through 19 questions with you, from products and orders to markets and checkout. Every question gets a yes or a no. That way nobody builds against assumptions, and you know from the start what the project includes.
ResultA scope with 19 decisions, recorded as an appendix to the contract.
Which system delivers, which receives, which is the source of truth.
We map every connected system: ERP, CRM, middleware, POS, payment, shipping, apps. For every data field we define where it originates, how often it flows and what happens if a connection fails. We agree the interfaces with your service providers in writing.
ResultA system map that your team, your service providers and we all read the same way.
Store, design and integrations are built in a password-protected store.
We build the new store in a password-protected store that later becomes your live store. Your current store keeps selling during this time. In parallel, we build integrations, checkout customizations and custom apps. Design follows buying psychology, mobile first.
ResultA protected store with all integrations that your team clicks through before launch.
Products, customers, orders and every old URL.
We migrate the data in a fixed order: products, customers, orders. That way every link stays intact. In parallel we compile the index of all old URLs. Each gets a matching target, product to product, and none is dumped on the home page. Matching is done via the EAN, which identifies an item uniquely.
ResultAll data in the new store and a redirect plan in which every old URL has a target.
Every target responds with status 200, every payment method is paid with.
Before the switch we check every target URL individually, place real orders with every payment method and check tracking, feeds and structured data. Search Console and Meta we verify via DNS beforehand, so that no access depends on the old template. Known gaps you get in writing.
ResultA test log with date and result per item, and your sign-off for launch.
Eight weeks of measurement: index, tracking, orders, feeds.
On launch day we first check the app embeds such as tracking and consent banner, because they are tied to the theme. Then we compare real orders against the conversions in your ad accounts. We monitor Search Console weekly for at least eight weeks.
ResultA store whose measurement is correct, and a team that runs it on its own.
Backend and integrations
Much of what an old store needed plugins or custom code for, Shopify Plus brings along itself. For every function we first check what Shopify can do, and code only what is missing.
Several countries, languages and currencies in one store, with a dedicated domain per country if desired. At BÄR Schuhe, five domains in three languages run through one store.
Dealers apply in the store and track their application on a status page. At BÄR Schuhe solved with Shopify Forms, Flow and customer fields, without a custom app.
Notices, progress indicators or additional fields directly in the checkout. Extensions in the information, shipping and payment steps are reserved for Shopify Plus.
Custom rules for discounts, shipping and payment methods with Shopify Functions, recurring workflows with Shopify Flow. Custom apps with Functions require Shopify Plus.
What no ready-made app does, we code: for example checkout extensions or the import of the order history from the old store.
Connection to ERP, CRM and middleware. We build the Shopify side, specify the other side for your service provider and test the connection with real data.
Analytics, ad accounts, server-side tracking and product feeds move along. If products have campaign history in Merchant Center, we preserve their old IDs.
Page titles, descriptions, structured data and the copy of the pages that rank today come along. Every old URL gets a verified target.
SEO during the migration
We do not guarantee rankings, because how Google rates the new pages is not in our hands. What we can commit to is a procedure: back up beforehand, redirect every URL, check every target, measure afterwards.
We back up 12 months of Search Console data with pages and queries and crawl the old store completely. After the migration it can no longer be crawled.
All URL patterns of the old store, including the unusual ones: brand pages, help pages, blog, sizes with their own URL. At BÄR Schuhe, 4,501 old URLs faced 217 products.
Product to product, merged variants to the new product. Only if an item is really gone, to the next matching category. Never dumped on the home page.
Every target URL responds with status 200 before launch, without chains and without drafts as targets. You learn how many old URLs have a target, not how many rules were created.
Search Console and Meta we verify via DNS record before the switch, and we check the website claim in Merchant Center. If a verification depends on the old template, it fails silently.
For at least eight weeks we check index and performance weekly. We draw conclusions no earlier than after two weeks, because Google takes a few days to process redirects.
Selected trade magazines and media have covered our work and results.

Common questions
Cost, duration, rankings, connected systems: the short answers. Whatever stays open, we clear up in the intro call.
It depends on product range, languages and markets, and above all on how many systems are connected. A store without inventory management is a different project from one with ERP, retail stores and a dealer area.
We give you a binding price once the scope is defined. Before that, it would be a guess.
A migration with few connected systems takes around eight weeks in our standard plan. With ERP, retail stores, dealer area and several countries, we plan in months.
The reliable duration is set after the scope is defined, because it depends above all on the integrations and on what your service providers deliver.
A migration changes URLs, and Google rates the new pages anew. A temporary drop is possible even with clean technology, which is why there is no guarantee.
We back up your Search Console data beforehand, redirect every old URL to a verified target and measure for at least eight weeks afterwards.
We clarify this per system when defining the scope. If a ready-made connector exists, we set it up and test it. If not, we build the Shopify side of the interface or a custom app.
The other side in your ERP is often built by your existing service provider. They get a specification from us of which data flows when.
Not every store needs Plus. Extensions in the checkout steps information, shipping and payment, as well as custom apps with Shopify Functions, require Shopify Plus.
If you do not need that, another plan is often enough. We migrate to both and tell you beforehand which one fits your store.
We have handled migrations from Shopware to Shopify, from WooCommerce to Shopify and from a custom-built store platform. Other platforms we assess case by case.
What matters is less the name of the platform than how completely products, customers, orders and URLs can be exported.
Yes. The new store is built in a protected store, and your current store keeps selling until launch day.
At launch we switch the DNS records at your domain provider to Shopify, and the domain usually does not need to move for that. Because the store may be briefly unreachable during the switch, we schedule it for a time with few visitors.
Tell us in 30 minutes what your store is connected to today and where you want to go. You speak with David Pehl or Anas Elimani and hear openly at the end whether and how we would approach the migration.
